Summer Swimming
Haven't you ever noticed how Summer and Swimming seem to always go perfectly together. We'll this past week with the temperature rising we've decided to partake in that classic ritual of swimming.
So we live in a relatively new subdivision, where one of the main amenities is an 88 acre lake. This lake is open to canoes, kayak's, and even fishing. However there are signs posted everywhere saying "No Swimming." Over the past 4 years, residents for the most part honored these signs, until now. Last fall the developer decided to add several sand beaches. Sand beaches brings kids, and there's no way your going to keep the kids out of the water.
At the lake, we have what I would call two play areas. The first is the sandy beach that gradually slopes into the water, perfect for the little ones. The second is a set of three piers, whereas with two of the piers the water is over my head, perfect for diving and canon balls. This works out perfect to keep Sean and Mia both happy.
The kids have been having a blast in the water. Mia this morning asked if we could go back to the "ocean" today. Its been fun for me too. I have never been a fan of pools, but could hang out at the beach all day long. The piers remind me of when my friends and I would dive off of the lighthouse tower at the Belmont and Addision Ave rocks in Chicago (those were the days...).
