Busy Summer...

Wow, we can’t believe we’ve haven’t updated the blog in almost two weeks. Life has been very crazy lately. We’ve been putting in the hours at work, while still trying to make time to register the kids for school and extracurricular activities. Lately it has been feeling a lot like Chicago with all the humidity.

The good news, is that rain has been real nice to our garden. We are so excited to actually be growing something. Now we just need to figure out what to do with all the squash.

We just started another season of football with Sean. He will be playing in the Ute Conference on the Bingham League. We are very excited because this is a highly competitive league with awesome coaches. Sean has five coaches, so the players get more one-on-one training. He will be playing offensive and defensive line again. He’s not thrilled about that. Although Sean may look thin, at 135 lbs he is at the x-man weight limit and has to play line.

We also got Mia registered for school. She will be attending American Heritage School of South Jordan. We were a little discourage that there are no Pre-K programs around here for 4 year olds, and the kindergarten programs are only half-day programs. AHS is a full-day program with a “real” school curriculum. They will also be starting in a new facility which is right next to the City Park. One of the things we like is that the students are required to wear uniforms. We tend to be a pro-uniform family. The clothes last longer, more equality since all the kids match, and the best part is that it’s easier getting the kids dressed in the morning.

Luckily we made some time for a quick stop at the movies. We saw the Mummy 3. The move was okay (it is better than the 2nd - Ruth is not so sure about that one). We especially enjoyed the trailer to the new Harry Potter movie. After the show, we took some family photos.

We also paid a visit to the Build-a-Bear Factory. Mia has wanted a bear for a while because her cousins have several bears each. So she has been saving her money and finally had enough for the bear. We also wanted to get it before her dental surgery on Friday. She named her bear “Cherry”. Once again we are not sure where her names come from but we are happy to welcome Cherry to the family.

The last big update has been the addition of a Wii to the family. Wow that system is so much fun. We got the Wii Sport which includes Tennis, Baseball, Golf, Bowling and Boxing. Ruth and I tried each of the games once and were both extremely sore afterwards. You get a real workout with this game.

On a final note…we have a special request for our family and friends. On Friday Mia goes into surgery for her teeth extractions and to fix her cavities. Please pray for my family during these times. Pray for wisdom and discernment for the Doctors and Assistants. Pray for strength and hospitality for Dave and Ruth. Pray for comfort and healing for Mia.
